Men's Ministry
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
Our Mission
"God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.'"
— Genesis 1:26a ESV
The men of ELC choose to follow God and not the world. We follow God by encouraging and providing events for spiritual growth and overall well-being. To improve a man's well-being, this ministry strives to provide opportunities for each man to share and grow their commitment to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, scripture, the Church and those he will encounter.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
— Proverbs 3:5-6
Why "paths"? Because when we fall off His path, He provides another path to help us find our way back. He knows, we stumble.

Men's Bible Breakfast
Good Food.
Good Men.
God's Word.
Every Saturday morning, men gather for a simple but powerful combination: provisions for the body, strength to the spirit and invigorate the mind, open Bibles, and real conversation.
This isn't a lecture. It's men studying Scripture together, asking questions, sharing struggles, and encouraging each other to live out faith in the real world — as husbands, fathers, employees, neighbors, and followers of Jesus.
No matter where you are in your faith journey — whether you've read the Bible cover-to-cover or you're not sure where to start — you're welcome at this table.
"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Acts 2:42
Common Questions
Before You Come
Do I have to be a member of the church to participate?
No. We do not have a "litmus-test" or pre-qualifier to attend as some claim. If you attend a function, we believe you are here because you want to be.
What ages of men attend?
We have activities for men ages 18 and up. We have a youth ministry for young men 17 and under. Visit our Youth Ministry page to be directed to that area.
Do I need to be a Christian to attend?
No. We all start out as unchurched. Come on in.
Is this more of a Bible study, fellowship group, or service group?
Each event will establish its own organic process.
What kind of atmosphere should I expect?
Each event will establish expectations; however, the overall atmosphere is casual. Dress as to not offend others or be a distraction. Put phones on vibrate. Stay on topic. Share speaking time. Easy stuff.
Getting to Know Us
What Actually Happens?
We meet to go from being "friendly" with others to actually becoming a "friend."
What do men do when they meet?
General greeting. Be ready when the start time arrives and respect others' time when the event is scheduled to end.
Are there regular Bible studies?
We have one main Bible study of 20+ men that happens every Saturday: 7:30–8:00 AM is fellowship/provisions and 8:00–9:00 AM is the study. Books of the Bible only. Anyone can facilitate (steer) a study. There are also several small casual groups who gather several times a month.
Are there service or outreach projects?
The Saturday Bible study has a free-will donation for the provisions and these funds are used for such services or projects. ELC also works with the Kairos Prison Ministry for both men and women inmates. ELC also has several members who are part of The Gideons International Ministry, which is an "evangelical association that equips and mobilizes Christian business and professional men, along with their wives, to share God's Word, winning others for Jesus Christ worldwide."
Do you have retreats or special events?
Retreats, not at this time; however, we are always looking for opportunities for such. Past special events have included live streaming the "Promise Keepers" mass event. Then there's the as-needed snow removal for the home-bound, church property clean-up, and such.
What topics are typically discussed?
This depends on the event you attend and topics generally stick to the Bible or study; however, if you have something that you want to express — and there's a lot in the world to discuss — most groups will allow a portion of time for you to express what's on your heart. Above all, be respectful of the time everyone has committed to this event. In some situations, nothing is wrong if members want to meet up later or elsewhere for further discussion.
Is childcare available?
At this point in time only Sunday worship provides such.
Is there a cost to participate?
Some studies may require purchasing a study guide and there could be a free-will offering. The event will dictate.
Do I need to sign up in advance?
Current events, no. Future events will establish if sign-up is needed.
For You
How This Ministry Can Help You
How will this help me grow spiritually?
Jesus said in John 16:33b, "In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." Everyone is different so results will vary. What's important is to be present and seek what God wants you to find. Ice Hockey icon Wayne Gretzky famously said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Basically, the growth you get will be linked to the effort you give.
Can this help me be a better husband or father?
Of course, we want men to be better husbands and fathers; but these relationships require the wife or the child to also be dedicated, as Jesus said in Luke 6:31, "And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them." Be calm and carry on. It all starts with YOU. Anxious? 1 Peter 5:6-7 says, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." With God, you are never alone, never abandoned.
Will I build friendships here?
The opportunities are yours.
Is there accountability?
The Men's Ministry doesn't have an accountability roster. You will not be required to do anything for this ministry or for the Church. This ministry is here FOR you; it isn't here expecting OF you. We want you to feel welcomed, to feel the love of God and Jesus.
Is there mentoring?
ELC has a group of members who are part of the nationwide organization called The Stephen Ministry. This ministry is for men and women who are facing some crisis in life — for instance, illness, death of a loved one, divorce, relocation, or financial setback. Not to forget: our Pastor is also available and a meeting can be scheduled, from which a way forward can be established. Contact the church office to arrange a time.
Will I feel welcomed if I come alone?
As Christians we welcome other Christians, and those who seek the LORD, and those who are curious and those who are looking for calm for their soul. We are not out to change anyone, but we will try to help you be who God wants you to be. Romans 15:7 says, "Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." We welcome all because we would want to be welcomed — remember, do unto others. You have already been invited; we look forward to seeing you.
