Whatever It Takes...

Whatever It Takes...

...except sinning...

to bring others to Jesus!

This Scripture reading displays the amazing tenacity, ingenuity, and boldness of a group of friends, and the loving power of Jesus to make all things new!

Younger Set

• The image with this article shows 4 friends figuring out a clever way to get their friend in front of Jesus.  Could you do that today?  How did they do it?

• What friend do you care about enough that you would do something difficult like this for him/her?

• What are the 2 kinds of healing that Jesus did for the man?

• Who in your life has done everything possible to help you know, love, and believe in Jesus? (parents, pastors, godparents, grandparents, SS teachers, etc.)

• Who has God put in your life RIGHT NOW who does NOT know, love, and believe in Jesus? (try to help youth list specific names)

• What can you do to help bring them to Jesus? (Adults help brainstorm creative suggestions so that each youth in group may have 1 idea to pray about and try with 1 not-yet saved person) Write your idea on an index card to take with you!

(Adults, as you explore the Points to Ponder, try to choose some action steps. Remember to think creatively. Pray about these steps and then act boldly with tenacity.  Check back with each other in a week or two to share how God worked!)

Points to Ponder - How does the Holy Spirit help in this process? Who has partnered with the Holy Spirit to do this in MY life? Who has God put in my life RIGHT NOW, that needs me to partner with the Holy Spirit in his/her life to bring them to Jesus?

READ Mark 2:1-12 NIV

A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
