Psalms of Christmas: Acceptance

Psalms of Christmas: Acceptance

God's acceptance produces my acceptance...

Hmmmm… Acceptance… Now that's a power-loaded word!

The most unbelievable acceptance of all time was when God changed His Heart towards sinful man and said, "I will accept you as holy and pleasing, freely and fully dwelling with me because of the sacrifice of My Son, Jesus Christ."

This acceptance has been extended to all people of all times. Sadly, many reject it.

Once I realize the significance of God's acceptance of me, I desire to accept every detail of my life that He designs or allows!

Joseph accepted his role as Jesus' stepdad. The magi accepted their dream as a warning from God not to return to Herod. John accepted his rough life and gruesome death as an offering of trust and love to His cousin-Messiah. The disciples accepted Jesus's invitation to follow Him. And the list of examples goes on… and on… through the Scriptures and throughout His-story.

What about me? On the scale of "acceptance…………………………………………….non-acceptance", where do I fall in accepting the plans and purposes God works together in my life and in life around me?

And how much do I care about others around me that have not realized God's acceptance of them? Am I giving a witness of the joy and peace and freedom this brings? Do they see eternal hope and courage in me?

God, please grant it for Jesus's sake. May I live every day with my hands wide open, not clinging to things of the world, or of my own understandings… but rather praising and trusting and thanking You for the privilege of living as Your child and as Your servant. YOU ALONE are my Abba-King! Amen.

Points to Ponder - When did the good news that God accepted you in His Son, Jesus, create faith in your heart to accept His gift of salvation? Does His total acceptance of you in Christ move you to worship and praise Him with all your heart? How is your Connection Group growing in worship and praise of the Most High God? How can God use you to bring the message of His Acceptance to others?

READ Psalm 138 NIV

1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
before the gods, I will sing your praise.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name
for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
for you have so exalted your solemn decree
that it surpasses your fame.
3 When I called, you answered me;
you greatly emboldened me.
4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
when they hear what you have decreed.
5 May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
for the glory of the Lord is great.
6 Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
though lofty, he sees them from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life.
You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
with your right hand you save me.
8 The Lord will vindicate me;
your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.
